TARDEC which is the research arm of the army funded a $16 million dollar exploratory HUMVEE project with the primary contractor being Hardwire Inc. Through work with Alternative Motive Power Systems, NWS was able to provide engineering support regarding the electrical design and vehicle control. Four plugable hybrid electric vehicles were delivered within a 2 year period and were designed from the ground up.

NWS for over a decade supported new HIP factory installations in Ohio, Vietnam, India, China, Ireland and the UK. NWS was a key partner with IFI Global Services in constructing a global presence for HIPing technology. Providing both mechanical and electrical services, these facilities continue to produce thousands of pounds of parts each day.

Light Hybrid Locomotive
Through a grant from the state of Texas and the partnership of Alternative Motive Power Systems, NWS supported a complete design and build of one of the first hybrid locomotives in the country. Starting with a GP-9 deck, a unique CAD model was developed for all components above the deck. Machining of battery cooling plates and construction oversite were provided by NWS to complete this successful build.
